Orthodontic Mechanics

Orthodontic mechanics aim to obtain Class I relationship, facial esthetics and functional occlusion. It has four phases:
Phase 1 of orthodontic mechanics is alignment and leveling.
Phase 2 consists of correction of overbite and overjet.
Pahse 3 includes closure of spaces remaining from extractions, anterior torque and uprighting of canines’ root.
Phase 4 is leveling of upper premolars and second molars, final torque adjustment of anterior teeth and final adjustment of canines’ roots.
